Best Friends Animal Society is the largest no-kill animal welfare organization in the U.S., working to save the lives of shelter pets and support partner shelters nationwide.

The Email & Web Specialist, Network Engagement role supports this mission by leading email communication strategies and managing digital content that strengthens engagement with Best Friends’ network of shelters, partners, and supporters.

This position is fully remote and open to U.S.-based candidates (excluded candidates living in California, New York City and Washington State) passionate about digital communications and animal welfare. It’s a strong fit for professionals with experience in email marketing, content publishing, and audience engagement who want to apply their skills to a mission-driven organization.

This role requires the ability to travel to conferences and in-person meetings, not to exceed 20%, including overnight stays, when needed.

Lead segmented email campaigns and manage website content to drive engagement with Best Friends’ network partners.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement email communications and campaigns to maximize partner engagement.
  • Manage complex audience lists and segmentation for targeted messaging.
  • Publish and update content on the network website, working with UI/UX guidelines.
  • Track site and email performance metrics and use insights for optimization.
  • Collaborate with teams across departments to align digital channels and messages.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for conferences and in-person meetings — may include occasional overnight travel.

Relevant Experience & Skills

  • Experience with email marketing tools, segmentation, and automation (Mailchimp, HubSpot preferred).
  • Proven writing and digital content skills.
  • Experience managing web content (Drupal or similar CMS).
  • Ability to analyze and report on engagement metrics.
  • Strong organizational and collaborative abilities.
  • CRM, audience segmentation, and analytics experience advantageous.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.


Compensation & Benefits

The estimated compensation for this role is $61,000 – $65,000/yr.
