Make-A-Wish America is the national nonprofit dedicated to granting wishes for children with critical illnesses, uniting communities and volunteers to deliver impactful experiences.

This role involves partnering with chapter leadership to strengthen volunteer engagement programs through tailored support, onboarding, training, and best-practice implementation. It includes developing resources, analyzing volunteer data, and acting as a liaison between the national office and chapters.

Best suited for mid-career nonprofit candidates with substantial volunteer management experience, especially within Make-A-Wish or similar organizations; remote work with possible travel and occasional non-standard hours. This is a remote position option to candidates across the continental U.S. and require U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship provided.

Provide hands-on support, training, and strategic guidance to volunteer engagement staff to grow and sustain chapter volunteer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary liaison between the National Office and chapters to support volunteer engagement staff.
  • Advise chapter leadership on volunteer staffing and program strategies.
  • Analyze volunteer reports to identify support needs.
  • Develop training, resources, and curriculum for the Volunteer Portal.
  • Deliver training and reestablish peer-to-peer mentor programs.
  • Advocate for volunteerism across the enterprise


Relevant Experience & Skills

  • 5–7 years in nonprofit roles with direct volunteer engagement experience.
  • 3+ years of direct Make-A-Wish volunteer management experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Salesforce proficiency required.
  • CVA preferred but not mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.


Compensation & Benefits

The estimated compensation for this position is $86,200 – $97,000/yr. + benefits + eligibility for student loan forgiveness.
